2005-2005
As one of the biggest companies in the world, it's fair to say Google has enough money and resources to take a few risks when it comes to innovation. Unfortunately, those risks don't always pay off. Though Google X is now better known as the name of the secret lab where the company works on some of its most ambitious inventions (Glass, driverless cars), the name was once used in a now bizarre collaboration between arch rivals Apple and Google. The project, which reimagined Google's homepage with the colourful icons of Mac OS X's Dock, was only online for one day in March 2002. Bearing the legend "Roses are red. Violets are blue. OS X rocks. Homage to you", the page is still available to see here.
